Land Based Crew
Dave Moore
Managing Director
Dave is a second generation fisherman, who started fishing in 1979. He bought his first boat in 1981 and in 1982 started exclusively supplying fish to Leigh Fisheries. He founded Wild Fish (NZ) Ltd in 1995 and still plays an integral part of its everyday operation. When Dave's not head down in the office or on the golf course, he loves to spend time with his family out on the water or with his mates cheering on a rugby game.
Darrin Fabricius
Operations Manager
Darrin started his fishing career as deckhand with Dave on the fishing vessel 'Rod' 37 years ago. He progressed his career gaining his Skippers ticket, becoming a director of the business and now holds the tiller as Operations Manager. He has trained 7 young crew members to obtain their Skippers ticket, unselfishly imparting his fishing knowledge and vessel management skills. He loves to still get out on the water and go game fishing, is a dedicated family man and a master on the barbeque.
Shanna Hodder
HR/Business Manager
Shanna has been with Wild Fish since 2007 when she started as Administration Assistant. She moved to London in 2010 with her husband and upon her return in late 2014 she rejoined the Wild Fish team and is now our fantastic HR/Business Manager. She has three young children, loves to be by the beach or at the snow and loves to still travel.
Larry Drake
Northern Vessels Manager
Larry is our amazing Northern Vessels Manager and is based in Whangarei, he is Wild Fish's number one go-to-man for fishing supplies and is a force to be reckoned with on the golf course. He is also a proud grandfather, and an absolute asset to our team.
Nick Bishop
Vessel Maintenance
Nick is a key asset to the Wild Fish maintenance team. He loves to go fishing in his spare time and is always willing to jump on a vessel and deckhand if required.
Skippers
Russell Nicol
Skipper - Arapawa III
Russell has a passion for the sea and fishing. He is a man of exceptional fishing knowledge and is an incredible teacher. Russell is humble and loyal and often needs reminding of how much of an asset he can be. He has impecable standards and is fantastic at maintaning his vessel.
Jacob Drake
Skipper - Bona Dea II
Jacob has worked for Wild Fish for over 20 years, starting as a deckhand on the Coral V, he obtained his Skippers ticket in 2009. He is a master at double-iki trevally and loves the rural lifestyle with his family on their block of land.
He is an exemplary artisan harvester.
Ashley Wilson
Skipper - Coral V
Ashley has an immense love for fishing. At 28 years old, he is our youngest Skipper and commands our largest vessel. Ashley is innovative and is continually looking to develop new techniques and expand his skills.He is not afraid of hard work and continually stives to become better

Sam Hefferen
Skipper - Tungsten
Sam began fishing for Wild Fish in 2018 after moving from his home town of Masterton. He deckhanded on the Arapawa III with Russell out of Tauranga. Learning great vessel management and completing his Skipper ticket in early 2022 he is now in command of the Tungsten.
